In-Year Admissions
An in-year application is an application for a place during the academic year or for entry to a year group which is outside the normal starting school process. You can apply at any time of the year.
You may wish to visit the school before applying, please contact the school office to make an appointment. They will also be able to advise you whether there are likely to be any vacancies in the year you are applying to. You should complete an In-Year Application Form and return this to the school office.
We aim to process applications within 10 school days but it can take longer at busy times, for example around school holidays. We will notify you of the outcome of your application in writing within 15 school days.
Where a place cannot be offered you will be notified in writing and given details of the waiting list process,
The oversubscription criteria apply to all applications. If there is a waiting list and you wish to apply on church grounds (Criteria 3 or 4) please also complete the In-Year Supplementary Information Form and request that your Vicar/Minister (or Church Officer during a vacancy) completes the Clergy Form included. These should be returned to the school office.
We do not accept applications more than 4 weeks in advance, and children must start within 10 school days of the date of the letter offering a place.
Where you are moving into the area, we would require written confirmation of contract exchange or tenancy agreement before offering a place.
Applications for September entry (apart from Reception) will be accepted from 20th May 2024 and will be processed from 1st June 2024. This is to ensure that parents wishing to take up places immediately have priority up until the 1st June 2024. After that time all applications are treated equally according to the oversubscription criteria.
The school will notify the Local Authority of the application.
Waiting Lists
Where there are no vacancies in a year group a waiting list will be maintained. Each child added to the waiting list will be ranked in line with our oversubscription criteria and this will be reassessed when a vacancy arises. No priority will be given based on the date an application was received or the name was added to the list.
Applications for vulnerable children
In accordance with the School Admissions Code, a Fair Access Protocol exists to ensure that unplaced children, especially the most vulnerable are offered a place at a school as quickly as possible.
You will be contacted after you have returned an application form if your application is to be processed under the Fair Access Protocol.
COVID-19 Pandemic Statement
As for many church schools, regular attendance at public worship is part of our oversubscription criteria. Due to the unique circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, churches and other places of worship have been closed for public worship. Following guidance from the Diocese of Chichester in conjunction with the Department for Education we have clarified how church attendance will be considered.
This statement has therefore been added to our Admissions Policy:
In the event that during the period specified for attendance at worship the church has been closed for public worship and has not provided alternative premises for that worship, the requirements of these admissions arrangements in relation to attendance will only apply to the period when the church or alternative premises have been available for public worship.
