Curriculum Statement for RE at St. Wilfrid's CofE Primary School

Intent:
At St. Wilfrid's CofE Primary School, we are deeply committed providing a holistic and enriching Religious Education (RE) curriculum that goes beyond the National Curriculum requirements. Our intent is to foster a love for learning about different religions and beliefs through a three-pronged approach: discover, explore, create. Through this approach, we aim to nurture understanding, respect, and curiosity towards diverse worldviews.

Implementation:
To achieve our intent, we will implement a range of high-quality RE lessons that are closely linked to the core values of our school. These lessons will be designed to encourage students to actively discover information, explore different perspectives, and creatively express their own thoughts and reflections. We will utilise a variety of resources, including multimedia tools, guest speakers, and hands-on projects to engage students in their learning.

In addition to traditional classroom teaching, project-based learning will be a key component of our RE curriculum. Students will have the opportunity to delve deeply into topics, conduct research, and present their findings in innovative ways. Through this approach, we aim to instil a sense of ownership and passion for understanding and engaging with religious ideas.

Impact:
The impact of our RE teaching at St. Wilfrid's CofE Primary School will be measured through both formative and summative assessments. Formative assessments, such as classroom discussions and peer feedback, will allow teachers to gauge student progress in real-time and provide timely support where needed. Summative assessments, in the form of quizzes, projects, and presentations, will help us evaluate the overall effectiveness of our curriculum and the extent to which students have met the learning objectives.

By fostering a learning environment where students are encouraged to discover, explore, and create, we aim to cultivate critical thinking skills, empathy, and cultural awareness among our pupils. Through ongoing reflection and evaluation, we will continuously strive to enhance the impact of our RE curriculum and ensure that every child at St. Wilfrid's CofE Primary School receives a well-rounded education in religious diversity and understanding.
