Day 1 - PGL - 2026
What a brilliant first day on the Isle of Wight — it had all the ingredients of a perfect start to a Year 6 adventure.
A smooth ferry crossing set the tone, with everyone enjoying time out on the deck, soaking up the sea breeze and excitement. On arrival at Little Canada, the group was welcomed by the ever‑cheerful PGL instructors who instantly made everyone feel at home.
The day was packed with activities that kept spirits high and energy buzzing: orienteering through the grounds, tackling the vertical challenge, dodging and diving in archery tag, and soaring through the air on the zip wire. Every activity brought laughter, teamwork, and a few proud moments of bravery.
Dinner was a feast — veg chow mein, fries, pasta, chicken with herbs, jelly and more. With so many choices, everyone found something they loved.
The evening rounded off with fun team games, the perfect way to wind down before settling in for the night.
A fantastic first day from start to finish — and the adventure has only just begun.
Day 2 - PGL - 2026
What a wonderful second day on the Isle of Wight — full of energy, adventure and plenty of smiles.
Breakfast set us up brilliantly, with the choice of a cooked option or a huge selection of cereals to fuel the morning ahead. We were delighted to see Mrs Ford and everyone headed off to their activities buzzing with excitement, taking on the giant swing, diving into laser tag and working together during problem solving challenges.
Although the weather turned in the afternoon, spirits certainly didn’t. We switched to a survival workshop and had a fantastic time learning new skills and embracing the adventure in true Year 6 style.
Lunch and dinner were once again a highlight — a fantastic range of delicious food, plus the ever‑popular salad bar that everyone is loving.
We ended the day gathered around the campfire, singing songs, sharing stories and toasting marshmallows — the perfect cosy finish to a brilliant second day.
Day 3 - PGL - 2026
We’ve had another fantastic day here on our Isle of Wight residential!
The children started the day with a delicious breakfast, with plenty of choice including cooked options as well as cereals, toast, fruit and yoghurt – a great start to a very busy day.
Throughout the day, the pupils took part in an exciting range of activities, including fencing, the zip wire, problem solving challenges, Jacob’s Ladder and laser tag. It has been wonderful to see them encouraging one another, building confidence and demonstrating excellent teamwork.
Lunch was very popular, with options including jacket potatoes, rice, chilli non carne, tuna mayo and cheese.
We did a mixture of abseiling, Jacob’s Ladder and the climbing wall this afternoon.
This evening, the children enjoyed dinner with choices of lasagne, pasta bake and chicken nuggets, all served with wedges and garlic bread, followed by a jam doughnut pudding – a real treat after a full day of activities!
The children have continued to represent the school brilliantly and have really embraced every opportunity presented to them today.
We’re looking forward to another great day tomorrow!
Day 4 - PGL - 2026
We’ve had a wonderful penultimate day here on our Isle of Wight residential!
The day began with a hearty breakfast, with the children enjoying either a cooked breakfast or a range of cereals and toast to set them up for the day ahead.
Throughout the morning, all groups took part in a variety of exciting activities, including the trapeze, climbing, fencing, archery tag, the giant swing and Jacob’s Ladder. It’s been fantastic to see the children continuing to challenge themselves and support one another.
Lunch offered plenty of choice, including burgers, vegetarian burgers, fries, vegetables, or a selection from the salad bar.
In the afternoon, half of the group headed to the beach where they enjoyed playing games together and paddling in the sea. The other groups took part in further activities such as the zip wire, giant swing and archery, making the most of every opportunity.
For dinner this evening, the children enjoyed pasta and meatballs or chicken korma with rice, alongside a range of fresh salads.
We then ended the day with a cosy movie night in our pyjamas, which was a lovely way to relax together after such a busy day.
Tomorrow morning, the groups will swap over so that everyone has the chance to enjoy both the beach and the remaining activities.
It really has been a fantastic day, and the children continue to impress us all with their enthusiasm and positive attitude.
We’re looking forward to our final day tomorrow and making our way back home!
